Walk around Naples Island | Long Beach, CA

Naples Island is a neighborhood of Long Beach, California. It is built on three islands divided by canals which open into the Alamitos Bay. The center of Naples features a large fountain, La Bella Fontana di Napoli, that has become a popular meeting spot.

The artificial canals and islands of Naples were the creation of land speculator Arthur Parson in the early 1900s. Naples was conceived as a romantic residential district. The three islands are filled with narrow streets, canals and beautiful houses.
Most of the streets on the island have Italian names.

When people talk about walking around Naples Island, they are referring to the inner island, where a walkway take you around the multi-million dollar mansions.

There are different ways to visit Naples: by foot or with a gondola through the canals. Long Beach is one of eight places in the Western United States where tourists may ride in a gondola.

During the Christmas season, Naples is well-known for its Christmas Boat Parade. You can view a great display of decorated boats as they sail through the canals. In addition, the houses exhibit one of the best displays of Christmas lights in Southern California.
